National Childhood Obesity Week 5-11 July

Next week sees the start of National Childhood Obesity Week which is being launched by the National Obesity forum and MEND (a social enterprise dedicated to reducing global overweight and obesity levels), which is calling for a strategy to tackle childhood obesity and launching a charter to bring all organisations working in this area.

With such super weather this is the ideal opportunity to get out and about with the children and the week is aimed at encouraging more children and families to get active together by showing them how much fun physical activity can be. Why not check out MEND's website www.mendcentral.org to see what events are in your area.

Get Active this Christmas

Did you know that according to a survey commissioned by the British Heart Foundation a third of children aged between 8 and 13 do less than an hour of exercise a week, with 20% thinking that only applied to them if you were fat! These are shocking statistics and over the Christmas break why not use the time to get out and about with the children and make the most of the time together. Even though its cold why not put on your high vis beanie hat and take the venus flyer and enjoy a good runaround with the children.
